Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PK) paid a substantial amount of currency to buying top foreign performers for the current season of the IPL.

Chris Morris captivated the highest-ever IPL player price of Rs.  16 Crore 25 lakh.

Here are notable overseas purchase deals by IPL teams in the auction

Kyle Jamieson: New Zealand’s young right-handed batsman Kyle Jamieson earned his rewards at the IPL Auction 2021, for a productive year in the international cricket market. He made his Test debut against the Indian team last year. His performance in six Tests and one-day matches impressed buyers.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals showed their interest to purchase Jamieson, but RCB, with its big purse, got the player (for Rs 15 crore). If his dream run continues in the IPL, RCB may gain to profit from it significantly.


Australia batsman Steve Smith is known as Run-machine and has shown his productive run-scoring competences in the IPL.  Four years ago, he recorded 472 runs for Rising Pune Supergiant. He hasn’t broken his record yet, but considering he is still one of the top running batsmen,

Delhi Capitals may have got a good bargain at Rs 2 crore 20 lakh on Smith.

Shakib Al Hasan: Bangladesh’s Shakib positioned second in the ICC rankings for T-20 all-rounders. He missed a year due to an ICC ban on him.  Shakib was in exceptional form with the bat in the ICC World Cup two years ago, just 15 days before he was handed his ban for his failure to report a corrupt approach. He would be keen on a strong comeback, and IPL 2021 could provide a good display place for the 32-year cricketer to display cabinet his all round skills.

He left back to his old club Kolkata Knight Riders, for Rs 3 crore 20 lakh.

Dawid Johannes Malan: The 33-year-old Dawid Malan represents England in international cricket.

This flashy batsman placed at the top of the ICC rankings for T-20 batsmen. He is a native steadfast for his club Middlesex, and he has excellent T20 statistics as an average of 53.03, the highest score of unbeaten 103, and a strike-rate of 149. He has played in other T20 leagues as well, including the Pakistan Super League, so he has the experience, stability, soundness.

Dawid Malan attracted a bid of Rs 1 crore 50 lakh from Punjab Kings.

Mustafizur Rahman: Left-arm fast-medium bowler of Bangladesh, Mustafizur has a record of grabbing the most wickets in a debut one-day international cricket.

His star cast is continued to be useful with the ball for Bangladesh in all plans. He has an IPL title in his kitty as well; in 2016, he contributed to SRH’s dream run to the top prize.

The 26-year-old bowler could be a trickle for the batsmen in the 2021 season.

Rajasthan Royals purchased Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 1 crore.
